Prayer is an obligatory act of worship for Muslims, performed five times a day as a form of obedience and communication with Allah SWT. Prayer begins with the intention of the prayer time, then facing the Qibla and reciting the takbiratul ihram (innermost position) while raising both hands.
Afterward, the iftitah prayer, Surah Al-Fatihah, is recited, followed by a short verse from the Quran. The next movement is ruku’ (bowing), where the body bows while reciting tasbih (tasbih). After ruku’ (bowing), the body stands back up (i’tidal), then prostrates with the forehead touching the floor as a sign of humility to Allah SWT.
Between the two prostrations, the prayer is performed while reciting a prayer. After completing the rak’ah, the prayer concludes with tashahud (the prayer of prayer) and greetings to the right and left. In addition to orderly movements, prayer also teaches discipline, patience, reverence, and purity of heart in daily life.
